Our U13A Boys Cricket Team deserve a special mention this week, as, according to Mr Law, they displayed 'one of the best cricketing performances from a Shebbear side in the last 10 years at least', showing determination and focus in their T20 match against West Buckland on Tuesday which was very exciting to watch!

After a good start to our bowling innings with some excellent work in the field from Geordie, Mitch and Will, the heat of the afternoon began to take its toll and West Buckland closed on 153 for 4 of their 20 overs, leaving Shebbear requiring 154 to win - quite a challenge! They started well with Henry and Alfie taking any scoring opportunities that came their way and calmly managing the game. With Alfie then caught, Geordie came out to bat, playing excellently in partnership with Henry, who by now had really begun to find his form.

Henry’s brilliant display of stroke making left Shebbear requiring 25 from the final 2 overs: He was now seeing the ball like a football and everything he hit was dispatched to the boundary! Henry finished with 65 not out, ably supported by Geordie’s 22 not out, taking the team over the line. It really was an excellent display from the team which goes to prove what can be achieved if you set your mind to it, remain calm and focus on the job in hand. Well done to all the boys for a truly fantastic team performance and a memorable result.
