At Shebbear, we place a great emphasis on our varied and extensive Co-Curricular programme, offering over 70 different clubs over the year for our pupils to choose from.
Activities change each term but the opportunities are endless and there is always something to suit every pupil. From sports teams to music ensembles, Eco warriors, surfing, drama clubs, film-making, cookery, pottery, Ten Tors, Duke of Edinburgh, coding and a long list of others, everyone is encouraged to join in!
Our activities are designed to broaden horizons and develop personal qualities such as leadership, confidence and tenacity, as well as learning new skills and developing interests.
Activities take place during the school day and after school, with our buses leaving at 5pm to accommodate this. Sports fixtures often take place in the evenings or at weekends and our boarders also enjoy a rich variety of activities and trips at weekends and in the evenings.
Trips & Expeditions
We offer a number of enrichment trips within the UK and abroad. Recent destinations include Poland and New York and we run a regular trip to Barbados and St. Lucia which offers the opportunity for our sporting pupils to play competitive cricket, netball and football against other schools and clubs.
Our biannual ski trip to Bormio in Italy is incredibly popular with around 50 pupils across the Senior School attending.
Sixth Form pupils also have the opportunity to undertake a biennial two week cultural trip to Uganda. Each pupil taking part comes up with ideas to raise money to both cover the cost of their trip and to contribute towards a charity in the country.
We also work closely with Canberra Grammar School and Marist College in Australia as well as Kingswood College in South Africa to provide reciprocal exchange opportunities for our Sixth Form pupils. The quality and size of the exchange programme we offer provides a life changing experience for all those involved.
Our wraparound care is available from 8am – 5pm to children in the Pre-School, Pre-Prep and Prep School, at no additional cost to parents. There is a wide range of clubs and activities on offer, or children may prefer to read, do their prep or relax with friends. This flexible care enables children to be dropped off earlier or picked up a little later, giving parents the peace of mind that they are happy and safe at school.
