Charity
Our pupils (and staff) get involved in a huge number of charity events each year, helping to raise awareness and much needed funds for many worthy causes – local, national and international.
Supported charities include Edukid, Macmillan Cancer Care, North Devon Hospice, MIND, Young Minds, local Food Banks, The Alzheimer’s Society, Children’s Hospice South West, Devon Air Ambulance and Bliss to name just a few.
Raising awareness can be just as important as fundraising so we like to have a balance between these two areas.
Visiting speakers are invited in to speak to our pupils in chapels and assemblies and we also arrange visits to our local charities to volunteer and support.
We also run the Global 2 Local (G2L) programme and are proud to sponsor the education of Lucky-Peace and Isaac - two children living in poverty in Uganda. G2L aims to engage, inspire and create awareness of national and international issues relating to citizenship, justice, poverty and sustainability and recognise and celebrate the cultural diversity of the world. It brings into focus important issues around the world through a number of important events and activities including the Global Student Forum, Model United Nations, Amnesty International, Christian Aid Week, War Child and a G2L Weekend Conference, all of which our pupils are encouraged to take part in.
