Bella quizzes the Rt Hon George Eustice on Climate Change

Sixth Form Environment

Bella in Lower 6th was given a fantastic opportunity to interview the Rt Hon George Eustice, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and MP, earlier this week about environmental issues in the UK.

Bella, who is passionate about climate change and the environment, said 'I really wanted to get involved - I think the best way to understand climate change and the problems we are facing is to talk about it and then understand the action that can be taken. The interview gave me an opportunity to have my say just as many young people should also be able to do!'

Bella had the chance to ask four questions during her interview and we are looking forward to hearing Mr Eustice's responses as Bella is hoping that it will be aired on some of the local radio shows in the near future. Bella's insightful questions were:

"What do you think the solution/next step is for increasing trade for UK fisheries with the EU?"

"Have the combined events of the COVID 19 pandemic and Brexit altered our climate change targets (e.g. 2050 Net 0 target) and if so what can be done to get on track?"

"Is the Government going to consider using tidal energy production on a larger scale in the future, as not only could the areas be used for sports, fishing and recreational activities but it is a very stable way of collecting energy?"

"How do you feel about climate events including the G7 summit going ahead in the near future?"

Great work Bella and brilliant timing for #EarthDay!
