Sports Scholarships

At Shebbear College we offer Sports Scholarships to talented pupils interested in joining our Form 1 (Year 7), Form 3 (Year 9) or Lower Sixth, awarded for outstanding ability and a passion for Sport. For students that excel at a particular sport, we award Sports Scholarships with a specialism in their area of expertise.

Scholars must also demonstrate positive characteristics that we would expect to see in a Shebbearian and be willing to get involved in all areas of sport.

Scholarships consist of a reduction on school fees and access to our Scholars’ Masterclasses.

We are looking to build our sports teams and for September 2025 we are offering Sports Scholarships to pupils joining our Sixth Form or our Form 4 (Year 10) for GCSEs. These will account for 80% of day fees or 90% of boarding fees.

Opportunities for Talented Athletes

Although we are a relatively small school, we achieve extremely highly in the sporting arena. Many of our talented pupils play for local academy squads with others having been selected for county or even national teams. Because our coaches and teachers know each child individually, we are quick to spot potential and positive character attributes, giving our pupils every opportunity to develop and grow their strengths and ability.

We have a high number of gifted and talented rugby players here at Shebbear and as such we have developed links with the England Lambs and Exeter Chiefs and run exchange programmes for our sportsmen and women with schools in Australia and South Africa.
