Sixth Form Extra-Curricular
Sixth Formers take a leading role in extra-curricular and enrichment activities.
The Sixth Form at Shebbear opens up a new world of opportunities outside the classroom, whatever your interests. All Sixth Form students are encouraged to take part in at least one activity during the school day, after school, in the evenings, at weekends and also on various trips within the UK and abroad.
The programme is designed to broaden horizons and develop not only interests but personal qualities such as leadership, confidence and tenacity. Given our wonderful location, close to both sea and moor, outdoor pursuits are extremely popular. On Monday to Thursday each week at 4.00pm pupils take part in their choice of activities which include games, challenges, clubs, sports, art, craft, media, music, science projects, archery, wildlife studies and gardening to name just a few. In fact, most subjects have an activity or the time can be used for study or prep. Among the many other extra-curricular activities on offer are involvement in worthy projects such as World Aims, Eco-Schools and Fairtrade, charity work in Uganda, sports trips to Barbados and participation in numerous charity events. For the more intrepid there are the Ten Tors Challenge, The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Army Cadets.
