Our friendly Pre-School caters for children from the age of 3 years. Situated within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) building, we follow the National Curriculum, with learning being delivered in a child-led Montessori style.
Pre-School children are split into two distinct learning groups - Cygnets and Swans - according to age and ability. Some of our Swans also have the opportunity to work with the Reception class in certain areas.
In the short time of my son attending Shebbear College Pre-School, I can already see a difference in his learning. He has started asking what things say and is taking a keen interest in counting. He is also running into class in the morning and it is no longer a battle to get him ready! - Pre-School Parent
Life at Shebbear College Pre-School is exciting and rewarding. Our relaxed, safe and friendly environment and our caring and experienced staff mean that we can encourage independence and social skills in all our children, developing their confidence as they learn through play.
Our days are very flexible and can often take on an activity initiated by the children, but each day we have sessions on phonics, maths and literacy, as well as singing, PE and topic-related activities, which include messy play, art, cookery, walks around the campus, forest school or a visit to a different part of the Senior School.
Children are welcomed into our Pre-School as they reach the age of 3 and are able to remain here at Shebbear for their entire education. Pre-Schoolers move smoothly up to our Reception class, which is based in the same building.
As our Pre-School is part of Shebbear College, we are only open during term time and not in the school holidays.
