A very happy New Year and we have all enjoyed a very good first week back in school to get 2020 underway. The children have started this new term with great enthusiasm and commitment, and they are already well underway with their studies.
Our first assembly of the term looked at some resolutions for the term and year ahead, as well as the qualities of tolerance and patience. We also talked about the catastrophic fires in Australia and the efforts people are making to save their communities.
The activities programme this term is very varied, with the children having a wide selection from which to choose. Art, Martial Arts, G2L Charity, Coding, Sketching, Maths Investigations, Watercolour, Drama, Lego and Chess, as well as a range of sports are among the activities available for the children and they certainly appear to have enjoyed this first week.
Our sports programme is also underway, as all of our children in Years 5 and 6 took part in a football training afternoon with our friends at St. Petroc’s on Wednesday.
I hope you have a good weekend and the best of luck to our cross-country runners competing here at Shebbear on Sunday morning in the latest round of the Gliddon and Squire League.
