A Word from the Head of the Prep School

Jo ConwayPrep School

We must start this week with the achievements of our gymnasts who took part in the North Devon Championships in Bideford last weekend. All of the children performed extremely well, with our under 11 mixed team (Issy, James, Jemima and Summer) winning bronze medals, which is an outstanding achievement. Many congratulations also to Scarlett, Dixie and Emma for competing so well in the under 9 category.

Year 6 took part in their Poetry Recital competition this morning. The adjudicator was Mrs Shamsolahi, Head of English in the Senior School, and she was given the extremely difficult job of choosing a winner from a selection of excellent recitals and performances from the children. The final results were Keira (School Days) in third place, Lydia (Granny) in second place and our winner was Jemima (Strict). Many congratulations to them all.

Despite the poor weather, our under 9 and under 11 footballers have been in action this week, in mixed matches with Kingsley. Our netballers also travelled to West Buckland for their fixture.

Our assembly programme this week has covered leap years, stress management and World Book Day, and our thanks to Emilia for playing the piano in Monday morning’s assembly, as our Musician of the Week.
