A day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 4 to 18 in Shebbear, Devon

War Memorial Scholarship Fund

One hundred years ago, in 1924, a group of Old Shebbearians came together to honour the memory of the sacrifices made by fellow Shebbearians in World War One. In order to remember these past Shebbearians, they created a fund to benefit future Shebbearians – and the War Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded.
Recognising the huge difference that a Shebbear education can bring, the Fund’s purpose is now to provide substantial means-tested scholarships to talented and deserving young people who, because of their family circumstances, would not have the opportunity to attend or stay on at Shebbear College.
War Memorial Scholars have contributed greatly to college life over the years, both academically and outside of the classroom, thus enhancing the strength, talent and diversity of the school.

Donations to the Fund

To maintain these Scholarships each year, the Fund relies on the ongoing generosity of Old Shebbearians to make donations. Join us in our centenary year to share the vision of the founders and remember those Shebbearians killed on active service, their common aim to give others a better future.

It has a really lovely atmosphere here at Shebbear College, I’m enjoying the social side as well as the academic side. The pupils and teachers here are really kind and caring. They make me feel seen – I’m an individual as part of a community.
