A great start to the season for the U13 girls despite only having 6 players. All girls played fantastically and all gave 100% throughout the match. We started strong and after only a minute Millie had secured our first goal. This seemed to boost the girls confidence and in the first 10 minutes we were 2-1 up. Mount Kelly came out strong and put pressure on the defence but Eleanor made some fantastic tackles and cleared the ball up into the mid field well. Rosie had her fair share of the work in goal and produced some fantastic saves. At half time we were still 4-2 up. We continued in much the same way in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Lilly made some fantastic runs from our defending half into the D backed up by Alice. Millie and Demelza were strong in the mid field and both gave excellent displays of the many different ways to score. Full time 8-5 win. Eleanor was player of the match.

The U14/15 also had a good first game on Saturday, once the girls settled into the game and the newly formed team experienced competitive hockey they worked really well together, resulting in breaking through the defence and creating scoring opportunities. The team also showed outstanding strength at the back, alongside great resilience. Well done to Jess-Mae for being awarded player of the match.

On Wednesday the U16 (pictured above) also took part in the North Devon regional qualifying event, which they won. They showed great spirit to draw 1-1 with West Buckland and beat Holsworthy 4-0, again the team played some great team hockey, working the ball around the opposition and producing a great team spirit. Congratulations to Gemima for her work rate and dedication and for gaining player of the match against Holsworthy.

The 1st XI had a tough opening match against Mount Kelly and again, as a first outing, showed a positive learning curve and potential of what is to come. They created a number of good scoring opportunities, which in time will no doubt be converted. We have a healthy squad of players, with strength in all positions. It was great to see Niamh show her commitment and ability in goal, saving a number of shots, alongside great work rates from all and congratulations going to Klara who put in a fantastic performance, working hard for the whole match and getting player of the match.
