Our PSHE

Department Overview

The PSHE (Personal Social and Health Education) programme is created to promote and complement the themes of all social and emotional aspects of learning.

Ethos

In today’s ever changing world we recognise the choices that are available to our children and so help increase awareness of issues in regard to the ‘Every Child Matters’ programme. We actively promote education for our young people and their families to be safe, emotionally and physically well and achieve a good quality of life on every level.

We enthusiastically encourage our young people to examine and evaluate their opinions towards important social issues and to be empathic, tolerant and understanding towards everyone, accepting that we are all different, yet are all equally valued.

Aims

Through PSHE and the pastoral network we feel that every one of our young people have and deserve the right to a fulfilled and supported childhood.

Benefits

The programme provides our young people with strategies to overcome concerns, learn how to share problems and seek assistance in all areas of their lives, recognizing the stages of emotions associated with loss and change.

It also encourages and prepares our young people for a life after school by developing skills relating to study, finances, health and organisational matters.
