Pancake day in Pre-School

On Tuesday the children carefully weighed and measured the ingredients for the batter and enjoyed some of their pancakes at snack time. The ones that weren’t so successful were used for a pancake race in the playground where sugar was replaced by gravel.

Exploring the Campus

There is no better way to spend Friday afternoons than exploring the campus and collecting sticks to make shelters. There was so much to see that Pre-School will have to wait until next week to begin construction.

The children in Pre-School enjoyed making telephones with cans last week. They were able to test them out on Friday around the campus. Some of the Reception children were able to suggest ways to improve their phones!

Weekly Pre-School forest sessions have begun

This week the children made hanging fir-cone bird feeders with locally derived honey. There were sticky fingers and some spilt bird seeds however there will hopefully be some very full birds. Stay tuned for next week’s Forest session!

Tarka Pottery

The Pre-prep school went to Tarka pottery this week. All the children took part in creating fantastic individuals Christmas tiles. These talented children made their teacher very proud with their outstanding behaviour and good manners. The children were extremely lucky to have the opportunity to stroke the Shetland ponies in the farm, they absolutely loved this.

Pre-School litter picking (almost)

Sometimes, instead of outdoor play the Pre-School and Reception children are able to just get out and about on our wonderful campus. We have been focusing on our school community again this week and we went to see if we could find any litter that had been dropped. The children were actually very disappointed not to find any at all.

Every week before half term our Pre-School and Reception children go swimming at Ruby Oak Park. We all enjoyed the walk up to the mini bus in wonderful sunshine and the children enjoy greeting some of the older children and staff as they passed.

This week our Pre-School children have been focusing on the year’s wonderful harvest. Mrs Thompson harvested some onions, carrots and grapes this weekend for the children to practice their scissor skills safely and discuss how and where the plants grow.
