The Under 11 girls’ netball squad made a great start to the season. We had our first fixture against St. Joseph’s on Wednesday the 25th September and the majority of our team were making the leap from playing at U9 level to the more exacting standard that U11 requires. The girls acquitted themselves really well and upped their game which was really tremendous. Many of the girls were playing in new positions and this was the first time that this team had played as a cohesive unit. Lydia performed brilliantly in her new position as Goal Attack and she led from the front as a captain should. Lila-Mai, who is in Year 4, looked perfectly at home with girls who are two years older. Jemima was tenacious in Centre and Issy defended vigorously. The game was fast-paced and so exciting to watch but the final score was a victory to Shebbear by 6 goals to 2. Players of the match were Lila-Mai and Lydia.
