Sports Scholarships
At Shebbear College we offer Sports Scholarships to talented pupils interested in joining our Form 1 (Year 7), Form 3 (Year 9) or Lower Sixth, awarded for outstanding ability and a passion for Sport. For students that excel at a particular sport, we award Sports Scholarships with a specialism in their area of expertise.
Scholars must also demonstrate positive characteristics that we would expect to see in a Shebbearian and be willing to get involved in all areas of sport.
Scholarships consist of a reduction on school fees (of between 10% and 25%) and access to our Scholars’ Masterclasses.
We also offer Transformational Sports Scholarships, aimed at offering a Shebbear College education to talented students from all sectors of the community. These awards, based on talent and household income, can offer significant reductions on school fees, occasionally accounting for up to 100% of the fees for Sixth Form students.
Opportunities for Talented Athletes
Although we are a relatively small school, we achieve extremely highly in the sporting arena. Many of our talented pupils play for local academy squads with others having been selected for county or even national teams. Because our coaches and teachers know each child individually, we are quick to spot potential and positive character attributes, giving our pupils every opportunity to develop and grow their strengths and ability.
We have a high number of gifted and talented rugby players here at Shebbear and as such we have developed strong links with Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club and Brunel University, with opportunities available each year for our pupils to gain scholarships to study at Brunel University and join the Ealing Academy.
We also work closely with the England Lambs, Saracens RFC and Exeter Chiefs and run exchange programmes for our sportsmen and women with schools in Australia and South Africa.
