A Visit to Santa’s Magic Grotto

Pre-School and Prep School children have all visited Santa’s magical grotto this week. They all met Santa and his special helper, and asked them lots of questions about his work on Christmas Eve.A magical time was had by everyone!

Prep School Chess Tournament

This term’s Prep School Chess Tournament came to a conclusion this week.After six rounds of matches, the final was between Tom and Harvey. This final match lasted a matter of minutes, as Harvey pulled off a superb two move checkmate, taking the winner’s trophy.Well done to everyone who took part, from Years 2-6.

Prep School Assembly

In the Prep School Assembly yesterday, there was a special performance by year 3 and 4. They told the story of ‘Jacques Le Gourmand’. The children knew the story off by heart and it was so impressive to see them do it all in French! A big WELL DONE to them all.

Political Parties

Shebbear College pupils put Christmas on hold this week and concentrated on politics. Five pupils chose to represent political parties of their choice. They campaigned to their constituents in the early part of the week and the senior school body went to the polls on Wednesday. After voting was concluded Samuel, representing the Liberal Democrat party , was elected with a landslide victory.

The Prep School Christmas Party was a frenzy of fun-filled games and activities. From old favourites like musical statues, to best dancer and balloon games, the children had an excellent time. The afternoon was then rounded off with a festive feast in the dining hall.

The Santas vs Elves

The senior rugby team finished their season off with a friendly match against Kingsley. The Santas (Shebbear) and the Elves (Kingsley) showed off some fantastic rugby skills. It was definitely a game that was enjoyed by all. Thanks Kingsley School Bideford for joining us in a fantastic afternoon of rugby!

Congratulations to our golden sticker winners this week: Phoebe, Tyler, Harry, James, Tom and Theo. Our BAFTA winner was Phoebe, and Harry won the Manners Medal. Our House Spelling Bee competitors were also presented with their certificates in Monday morning’s assembly. Well done to them all

Michaelmas Term Concert

The evening was as wonderful as one could have hoped for. The Orchestra opened with rousing, precise performances of the first movement from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and in stark contrast a memorable rendition of Queen’s  Bohemian Rhapsody.
