Sixth Form Scholarship Awards
Every year Shebbear College awards a number of Sixth Form Scholarships.
The funding for the scholarship awards comes from the OSA (Old Shebbearians’ Association)Memorial Fund which was endowed in the 1920s by various families associated with the College and given in memory of over fifty former pupils who lost their lives between 1914 and 1918.
Headmaster Simon Weale said ‘This is a very precious opportunity for local young people to benefit from the excellent education that we are able to offer in our small academic Sixth Form. The fund offers some very generous means-tested scholarships and should allow students to attend who might not otherwise be able to come to Shebbear College. Any student coming to the end of Year 11 in one of our many excellent local schools, or currently at Shebbear, is encouraged to get in contact with the school for more details’.
Applicants will require a strong academic pedigree at GCSE level and a proven track record in one of the main extra-curricular activities available at Shebbear College such as sport, music, drama, art or outdoor challenges.
Applications are invited in writing and will be considered on a means-tested basis. They should send a covering letter explaining why they should be considered for the award along with details of their school achievements to date. Their current school will also be expected to supply a reference.
