Parents Letters
From the Headmaster
May, 2010
Dear Parents,
I write to keep you informed of current events during this summer term.
Firstly, I would like to draw your attention to the ever important issue of our children and computer use. Whether on a computer at school, a laptop at home, a games console or mobile phone, children and young people are increasingly accessing the internet whenever they can and wherever they are. As you would protect your child in the real world, you will want to be sure they are safe whatever they are doing online too. We would like to offer you a specialised presentation run by CEOP (Children’s Exploitation Online Protection) to also help you to understand some of the ever increasing problems children can face whilst using chat rooms, virtual world sites, facebook etc. This presentation, ‘Safeguarding, ESafety & Safety using the Internet’, will be held at the College on Wednesday June 16th at 6.30 p.m. We feel this will be beneficial for both parents and pupils and would encourage you to attend if you can.
Fifth and Upper Sixth Formers are now reaching the end of their courses and revising in preparation for their exams. As soon as examinations are complete it is important that pupils return textbooks to the various departments from which they were borrowed, or possible charges maybe incurred. May we ask parents to remind pupils that they have a personal responsibility to locate and return books as soon as they are able to do so.
Study leave will begin on June 7th. This will allow pupils to study at home for public examinations. Of course, if pupils prefer to work in school, a space will be available for them. As usual, all pupils in and around school must wear school uniform; if uniform is not worn the pupil may be asked to go home.
I would like to remind parents that all items of school uniform must be labelled. We have a large amount of clothing in lost property; unfortunately none of it is named. It would be extremely helpful for all if you would please ensure that all items of clothing are named.
Please would you let the school office (01409 282000) know as soon as possible if there are any changes to bus travel from September 2010 for those pupils using the school buses.
