Ull v St Petrocs
After a snowy start to the term the ground had at last clearedenough to allow the first fixture of the term to go ahead. On Wednesday 20th January we entertained St Petrocs football team. It proved a good game and far closer than the final score would indicate.
We started strongly led by captain Liam Landymore and Thomas Squire and we had deveral good chances but failed to convert any. St Petrocs came back srongly and tested our goalkeeper, Oliver Whitten but he was up to the task. Eventually we scored, a well taken goal from striker, Charlie Miles. Two more goals quickly followed before St Petrocs pulled one back. Then came the goal of the game when Thomas Squire finshed off an intricate passing mvement to make the half time score 4-1 to us.
The second half was a bit off a procession as we pushed forward and the St Petrocs boys tired. Goals followed in a steady fashion. Charlie comlpeted his hat trick and there was a super goal by Harry Scambler from a corner. The final score was a 10-1 victory for the College. Well played the boys and well played St Petrocs who were committed right to the end. The sausage rolls and hot chocolate certainly went down well at the end!!U9 v Kingsley
On a cold and cloudy Tuesday afternoon the College U/9s football team played their first game of the term against Kingsley. Captained by Eddie Jones they soon warmed up the day with some scintillating football. They survived an early scare to hit back with an excellent strike from a long distance from Stuart Williams. That settled them down and they continued in this vein for the rest of the half. The highlight was a fine goal from Jed Foster who volleyed in a cross from Stuart. The half time score was 4-0 to the college. The second half with us playing down the slope was almost one way traffic with us scoringat regular intervals. The final score was 11-0; Stuart Williams scored five, James Edge scored three, Eddie Jones scored two and Jed Foster one. Jed had an excellent match but our star for the day was Stuart Williams who was quite outstanding.
Well done to all the team
Football U9 v St Petrocs
On a dreadful afternoon in Bude our under nines football team played a match against St Petrocs. Considering the atrocious conditions it proved to be a very entertaining game.
We played down the slope in the first half and had the best of the early exchanges with James Edge and Eddie Jones going close on several occasions. But it was St Petrocs who took the lead with a goal from Rocco Dyer. He seized on a poor clearance to drive the ball into an empty net. St Petrocs then had a chance to go further ahead but were denied by a terrific save from our goal-keeper Patrick Faulkner. The remainder of the half saw us pepper the St Petrocs goal without any success, until at last we finallyhadone on target and we were level. It was scored by captain, Eddie Jones. 1 - 1 at half time.
Although we played up the slope in the second half we continued to dominate and finally goals from Jed Foster and Stuart Wiliams, who were outstanding throughout, wrapped up the game for us. The final score was 3 - 1 to the College. An excellent match played in adverse conditions.
