About the Headmaster

Bob Barnes is a Lancashire lad, born and bred in Blackpool. Having graduated in History (a subject he still teaches in the college today, together with A Level Psychology) Bob came to Shebbear College as the Head of PE and Games.

His passion for the College led to his appointment to the the Senior Management Team as Head of Activites. In 1998 he was promoted to deputy head and then to Head Master in 2003.

Bob's a family man through and through, his sons both went to the college before they went onto University and his wife, "Jo" is the Head of Modern Languages, as well as being thoroughly involved in the day to day running of the school.

Bob is a bit of film buff and also enjoys travel whenever the opportunity arises. He still plays his favourite sport, rugby, and likes to referee school games "whenever time allows".

Underpinning all this dynamism and enthusiasm is a strong Christian belief.
